About Vox Viola

Vox Viola Literary Magazine was created to empower and inspire women through the written word and visual arts. Named after Viola from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night—who presented herself as a man so others would take her seriously—Vox Viola is an intersectional feminist literary magazine that seeks to amplify the voices of all women regardless of race, age, ability, sexuality, or any other identifier.

We are committed to exploring identity and how individuals interact with the world, providing a supportive environment for underrepresented voices. Through poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual arts, we champion stories that are insightful, extraordinary, and unapologetically authentic.

A masthead represents the heart of any literary magazine, and at Vox Viola, it is where we honor the voices that shape our pages. Every editor, reader, and contributor brings a unique perspective to the ongoing conversation about women's experiences and creative expression. Our masthead reflects a community built on collaboration and mutual respect, where each person's role is essential to the work of amplifying stories that might otherwise go unheard. This space is intentionally transparent, listing those who dedicate their time to selecting and shaping the poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art that appears in every issue.

Behind each issue of Vox Viola lies a collective of individuals who believe in the revolutionary power of telling one's own story. The masthead acknowledges the labor of love that goes into reviewing submissions, corresponding with writers, and designing layouts that honor each piece of work. From the founding team to current editors, each person shares a commitment to intersectional feminism and the belief that women's voices deserve to be heard across all boundaries of identity. Their diverse backgrounds and experiences inform the magazine's direction, ensuring that Vox Viola remains a supportive, honest, and empowering space for all.
